Imagine a South Africa in which:

  • The elderly generation not only has a strong, authoritative voice that reprimands, teaches and guides the younger generation within households and communities but also uses its individual and collective voice to impart the rich South African political, cultural, artistic and business history to the younger generations
  • Each person over 30, who is employed or running their own business adopts a school in their community - giving back knowledge, skills, goods and initiating empowerment programmes
  • Each person over 20, who is unemployed plugs into and volunteers in the schools and community empowerment programmes initiated by the employed, entrepreneurs and/or the SA Government – and they get a stipend
  • The Government Social Grant is paid based on the prescribed monthly volunteering hours the unemployed South Africans have worked in the above-mentioned schools and community empowerment programmes
  • Soft Skills such as Emotional Intelligence, Etiquette, Personal Development Planning and many other related subjects are taught and implemented as part of the public schools’ education curriculum
  • Youth (13 – 19 years old) benefit knowledge, skills, goods and guidance from the above-mentioned schools and community empowerment programmes

In Thuto In Africa (TIA), we see such a reality for our country &
we are doing our bit to build towards it.

Our Mission

To empower the Youth with the critical, much needed Soft Skills which they need to navigate and thrive through the journey of their careers or entrepreneurship

Our Purpose

To help the African Youth to discover and develop their God-given gifts, which they can use to effect positive change within their families, communities, cities and countries

Our Values

We are a Christian Faith-based Organization, grounded on values of integrity; professionalism; quality programme delivery; honouring our mentors and coaches; strategic collaborations and partnerships.

The word of God written in Isaiah 48:17 is the truth we stand on

Our Why

We do the work we do to give back to the same communities that raised us but most of all, we want to intentionally emulate:

1. Individuals who retired from jobs and started sports/arts development programs for us when we were teenagers in townships.
2. Companies that recruited us into their skills development internship opportunities post tertiary studies.
3. Teachers and many individuals who cared enough to coach and mentor us about life principles - all of which positively impacted our lives.
